BEHIND THE MUSIC
Olivia has become a young professional and is active on the concert platform and in recital. She has performed beside Roderick Williams as the soloist in Fauré’s Requiem (2014) and with the Leeds University Union Big Band at some of the most prestigious music venues in Leeds, as well as at some of the most important events on the LUU calendar – the Summer Ball and the Riley Awards. She has also toured with UoL Big Band performing in the South of France (2019). Olivia appeared as “the Nymph” in the UoL Leeds Baroque society production of The Fairy Queen (2018) and as Cinderella in the UoL Musical Theatre Society production of Into The Woods (2019). Her first international recital took place at the University of North Texas, College of Music, under the direction of William Joyner (2019).
Olivia Thackray is an accomplished performer and Soprano and has appeared as a chorister with many of the most important choirs on todays platform. She has performed at the National Arboretum for Prince William to commemorate the centenary of World War I with the Repton School Chamber Choir (2014), performed the Evensong at Kings College Chapel, at the University of Cambridge with the Kings College Choral Choir (2014), performed at Gloucester Cathedral (2011), Durham, Worcester and Chester Cathedrals (2013), Jesus College Chapel, University of Cambridge (2014) and York Minster (2015) with the Repton School Chapel Choir. She has also sung for BBC 3 during her time on the Eton Choral course (2015). During her time at the University of Leeds she gained entrance to many societies, including the UoL Chamber Choir in which she sung around some of the most respected Churches and Cathedrals in Prague (2019). She has also performed with the University Singers from the University of Texas, College of Music, at the Preston Meadow Lutheran Church in Plano (2019) and the celebration of Holst’s The Planets (2020).
She has also gained knowledge on the genre of Musical Theatre by gaining entrance on the RADA Musical Theatre course in 2015 and expanded upon her instrumental playing by gaining her Grade 8 in Flute. She is a Platinum Award Winner at the National Concert Band Festival (2009) and performed at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow and the National Concert Band Festival at the Royal Academy of Music in London (2012).
From achieving a Choral Scholarship to Repton School and ending her time there as Head Chorister, she was involved in multiple ensembles, bands and productions which only further developed her and her passion for Music. From achieving her A-levels at Repton School she attended Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and gained a diploma in Musical Theatre and a Distinction in her ATCL Level Four exam. Next she attended the University of Leeds to read BMus Music and the University in North Texas, College of Music, where she specialised in Vocal Performance. She then attended Guildford School of Acting where she gained a First Class Degree in Musical Theatre.
